The Bill is sponsored by Rep. Stephen Sandstrom, and titled: "Health Care Provider Abusive Work Environment Prohibition Act" or House Bill 224. It is the state's first-ever attempt at anti-bullying legislation for any Utah workplace.
It will provide protection only for employees working in the healthcare industry. Protected employees shall include anyone working for health care providers (state, county, city, town, school districts, or higher education institutions), including medical interns and residents. This is a national first-of-its-kind legislation.
