Bill History
2009
In 2009, Nevada became the 16th state in the U.S. to introduce some version of the WBI anti-bullying bill. This is an unusual bill, not created by the WBI-Legislative Campaign. Instead an Assemblymember and practicing attorney, Tick Segerblom (D), Clark County, District No. 9 drafted the bill. The legal approach taken in this bill is to modify the state's civil rights code, to expand it to include abusive conduct among the categories of illegal employment practices.
Assembly Co-Sponsors of the bill included: Ellen Koivisto, James Ohrenschall, Ruben Kihuen, Paul Aizley, Harry Mortenson, Harvey Munford, and Peggy Pierce. Joint Senate Sponsors included: David Parks and Allison Copening
No public hearing was scheduled and the bill died in committee.
