  • On Jan. 10, 2012, Senator Greenstein introduced the Healthy Workplace Bill in the NJ Senate as S 333. Established as "The Healthy Workplace Act," S 333 was referred to the Senate Labor Committee. Committee members and chairpersons are not yet named for the new 2012-13 legislative session.
  • Note: New Jersey's 2-year legislative calendar does not begin and end with most other states. The new session runs from Jan. 2012 to Dec. 2013.

Bill History

2010-2011

Asw. Linda Greenstein reintroduced the Healthy Workplace Bill as A 673 in 2010. In 2011, Ms. Greenstein moved to the Senate to complete the term and introduced the same bill as S 2515. The Assembly version was A 673.

2008-2009

Asw. Linda Greenstein reintroduced the bill in the 2008-2009 legislative session. It was numbered A1551 and was assigned to the Assembly Labor Committee. No hearing was held.

Two Assemblywomen, Asw. Sheila Oliver and Asw. Valerie Vanieri-Huttle joined Asw. Greenstein as Primary Sponsors, and 13 Assemblymen and Assemblywomen joined as Cosponsors. They were: Assemblywoman Amy H. Handlin, PhD (R), Assemblywoman Caridad Rodriguez (D), Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini (R), Assemblywoman Nilsa Cruz-Perez (D), Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo (D), Assemblyman Patrick Diegnan, Jr. (D), Assemblyman Thomas P. Giblin (D), Assemblywoman L. Grace Spencer (D), Assemblyman Samuel D. Thompson (R), Assemblyman Albert Coutinho (D), Assemblyman Upendra J. Chivukula (D), Assemblyman Ralph R. A hearing before the Assembly Labor Committee was scheduled but canceled less than 24 hours before it was to take place.

The New Jersey Healthy Workplace bill was not brought to a vote in the 2008-2008 session.

2006-2007

Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein introduced "The Healthy Workplace Act" in the NJ Assembly. The bill, numbered A3590, was not heard in committee.

The filming was prompted by a Nov. 22, 2008 workshop on Workplace Bullying and the law held at the NJ Law Center, New Brunswick, NJ. Presenters at the event sponsored by the Chinese-American Association included Susie Cho, David Yamada, Dr. Gary Namie and Dr. Ruth Namie.
